Our minds have become a filled with daily mental battles against a variety of aggressors. Because we fail to identify the battlefield, we fail to identify who the enemy is. We blame man, the system, money, religion and so we build up these strongholds in our minds that are based on lies instead of truth and these strongholds actually imprison us and hold us hostage. Because we have these strongholds, we continue to believe the lies and then make choices based on those lies.
We have to take out the junkfood of the world and replace it with the spiritual food of God. We need our mind to line up with His word and replace the incorrect thinking we have trained ourselves to have. We have to knock down these strongholds and be willing to receive the light of truth in our minds. Our search for the truth begins in God’s word because we know the truth shall set you free.
If I would say, “This is just too big, It is impossible. I would replace that phrase with
”With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!
I am not strong enough to resist junkfood, I am too tired to exercise.
“I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!”
I hate exercising!
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires.
We have to realize that the hardest part of this journey will be changing our mind. This is not a battle of weight loss or food, this is a battle of the mind, but praise God we have the power to change it!
We also have to change the way our mind views commitment. We say we are going to start taking care of ourselves, but then we don’t exercise for weeks or eat right. The most common excuse is that we don’t have the time.
So many times you see mother’s so committed and loyal to their family by always getting them to their activities on time, getting them to church and youth group, always tending to everyone elses’s commitments, but then they don’t put any value in their commitments to themselves.
We have to commit to our health in the same way we commit to the Lord., our marriage, our children and our jobs. Without our health, we cannot do the Lord’s work or serve our family, but eventually we will become miserable and a burden to them.
We have to get the word TRY and MAYBE out of our vocabulary. When we get married we don’t say “I will TRY to honor and love you”. When we go to a job interview, we don’t say “MAYBE I will get to work on time each day”. Of course not. In that same way we must be willing to commit to our health.
A negative mind produces a negative mouth and, consequently, a negative life. So many people's problems are rooted in their way of thinking, which actually produces the problems they they experience. We have to choose to think and speak positively. It doesn't come naturally—it takes lots of practice. There will be days when you have setbacks, but just get back up, dust yourself off, and start again. When a baby is learning to walk, he falls many, many times before he enjoys confidence in walking. Failure is not falling, how you choose to handle that fall, determines failure.
If you have been consumed with negative thinking and speaking, the pathway to your freedom begins when you face the problem without making excuses for it. Be patient with yourself. As you change your thinking, your words will change and so will your life and so will your body!
