JUNE 30 2005
Today is my 34th birthday and tomorrow marks exactly 1 year from when I began this weight loss journey.  Did I make my goal of 140? *drum roll please*  Well, no I didn't.  I sure did try though.  I ended up working out twice a day, cut down my calories, fasted and did everything possible to get those pounds off and what happend?  I was up 3lbs last week!  But guess why.  Because all the extra exercise was putting muscle on me.  I did manage to get the 3lbs down and back to 148, but I also lost another inch off my hips and chest!  Yeah!  So a good lesson in how we shouldn't always have faith in what the scale says.  I still plan to get to 140 and have a new goal of August 9th!

Here are my results for the year!

Total pounds lost:  70
Inches off waist:    13.5 (wow!)
Inches off hips:      9.5
Inches off chest:    11
Inches off thighs:   7.5
Inches off neck:     2.5

That is a total of 44 inches of fat lost my friends!  My blood pressure has gone from 140/96 to 118/66 and my cholesterol has gone from 190 to 150.  My BMI has gone down 12 points from Obese II to Normal!  Yeah!

This in just one year!  Most of it happend in the first 6 months!  This can be you if it isn't already!  Never give up and walk in faith and you can do this!  I can't think of a better birthday present to give yourself!

Some of us crave chocolate and can easily scarf down a candy bar or two in order to satisfy it.  But are you craving it or eating it out of habit?

When your body is craving something, it is telling you something is low in your body.  If you crave meat, you need protein.  If you crave bread or sweets, you are needing a carbohydrate.  The key is choosing the right food to satisfy the craving.  When you feel a craving coming on think about the food you want and decide what category it falls in: Veggies, Fruits, Carbs, Protein, Fats.  Is the food you crave crunchy, chewy or smooth?  Try to find an alternative if the food you crave is an unhealthy choice.  Here are some examples:

Craving                     Alternative

Candy                     Fresh Fruit/Gum
Ice Cream               Applesauce/Sorbet
Cheese                    Tofu/Yogurt
Chips                      Popcorn
Cheese puffs           Carrots
Chocolate milk       Chocolate soy milk
Candy Bar               Unsalted Almonds
Donut                     Whole wheat bagel  with jam or light
                               cream cheese

You would be surprised how the healthier foods satisfy your craving, keep you fuller longer, give you energy and above all, make you not feel guilty!

Some of you have asked about what I eat each day.  I create a weekly menu and cook at lunch each day.  I eat really delicious food and since I cook it myself, I can control what goes in the recipe and choose better ingredients.  This not only helps me in weight loss, it helps the budget since I create a list from the menu and only shop from the list and gets rid of the stress of what to make each day to feed the family!  If anyone would like me to send you my weekly menu's each week for ideas, I will be happy to do so!  Just subscribe here.

I continue to enjoy all the emails and testimonies that everyone sends and look forward to more!

Blessings for the month of July and know I am just an email way if you need help, support, or just to talk!
