This is a common problem for many, not knowing when to stop and feeling full after it is too late.

1.  Measure out your portions ahead of time and commit to only eating what is on your plate, no more.  Stick to serving sizes.  For example if a serving of Light Pringles is 16 chips for 140 calories, only put 16 chips on your plate.  Never eat out of a bag or box!  You will be sure to eat 5-10X what you would normally.

2. Bring it to the table.  Eat together as a family, no books, magazines, don't wander to your computer or the TV.  It will make you feel like eating more as you finish reading your book, email or watching your TV show.  Unless you can exhibit self-control while doing these things, avoid it.

3. Do not eat when you are feeling emotional.  Stressed? Moody?  Depressed?  Exercise or find another outlet and hold off on eating until you get yourself in a better mood.  This will save you a weeks worth of fat and calories, trust me!

4. Don't eat until you have a full stomach.  Leave a little extra room.  A pastor friend once told me to leave a space for the Holy Spirit and don't crowd Him out with too much food :o).  He lost 70lbs simply by not eating until he was full.

5. Chew very slowly and enjoy every bite!   If you are not going to get to eat as much, at least enjoy the few bites you do have!  This gives your food time to alert your belly it is getting full before you have eaten too much.  This will also improve your digestive system.
